GFi offer another product which deals effectively with another email bourne nuisance - SPAM. GFI MailEssentials for Exchange/SMTP offers server based anti-spam, eliminating the need to install and update anti-spam software on each desktop. GFI MailEssentials is a spam filter which offers a fast set-up and a high spam detection rate using Bayesian analysis and other methods - no configuration required, very low false positives through its automatic whitelist, and the ability to automatically adapt to your email environment to constantly tune and improve spam detection. GFI MailEssentials also adds key email tools to your mail server: disclaimers, reporting, mail archiving and monitoring, server-based auto replies and POP3 downloading. GFI MailEssentials integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Exchange 2000/2003: It installs on the Exchange SMTP service and does not require gateway configuration. Via the SMTP protocol, it also works with Exchange 5.5, Lotus Notes and other popular SMTP/POP3 servers. To reiterate, MailEssentials not only gives you a highly efficient SPAM prevention tool, but also provides:-

  • Disclaimers For Exchange -adding a disclaimer to Exchange is a must have for most compaines
  • Mail archiving and monitoring

  • Auto-replies (server based)
  • POP3 connector for downloading POP3 mail (Microsoft only provide a POP3 connector in the SBS version of Exchange)

GFI MailSecurity for Exchange/SMTP is an email content checking, exploit detection, threats analysis and anti-virus solution that removes all types of email-borne threats before they can affect your email users. GFI MailSecurity's key features include multiple virus engines, to guarantee higher detection rate and faster response to new viruses; email content and attachment checking, to quarantine dangerous attachments and content; an exploit shield, to protect against present and future viruses based on exploits (e.g., Nimda, Bugbear); an HTML threats engine, to disable HTML scripts; a Trojan & Executable Scanner, to detect malicious executables; and more. GFI MailSecurity also scans for offensive content and information leaks, for example, an employee emailing a database. You can also choose to delete attachments like .mp3 or .mpg files.
